What "complete OB care" means at ICHI
Complete OB care means one physician manages your whole pregnancy journey — from your first prenatal visit through delivery and into postpartum care and your baby's newborn visits. Dr. Gutiérrez is a board-certified family physician who provides obstetric care as part of his family medicine practice. That continuity matters: your doctor already knows your medical history, your family, and (soon) your baby.
What your prenatal care looks like
First trimester (weeks 1–13)
Confirm pregnancy and dating, first prenatal labs, genetic screening options, nutrition counseling, first-trimester ultrasound, review of medications and safety.
Second trimester (weeks 14–27)
Monthly visits, anatomy ultrasound around 20 weeks, gestational diabetes screening around 24–28 weeks, discussion of birth plan and delivery preferences.
Third trimester (weeks 28–40)
Every-2-weeks then weekly visits, Group B strep screening at 36 weeks, growth checks, labor education, hospital pre-registration.
Delivery
Dr. Gutiérrez delivers at the affiliated hospital — call our office for current hospital details. He or a partnering physician is on call for your delivery.
Postpartum
Hospital discharge visit for you and baby, in-office postpartum check, contraception counseling, breastfeeding support, and referral if needed.
Baby's newborn visits
Newborn well-child visits are provided at ICHI by the same family medicine team — continuity of care from pregnancy to childhood.
Who is a good candidate for family-physician OB care
Family-physician OB is well suited for most low- and moderate-risk pregnancies. If you develop a complication that needs a maternal-fetal medicine specialist (for example, a high-risk pregnancy, twin gestation with complications, or a serious pre-existing condition), Dr. Gutiérrez will co-manage or refer to a specialist while remaining your primary physician for your overall care.
Prenatal care in Spanish — con el Dr. Gutiérrez
Dr. Gutiérrez is a native Spanish speaker. All prenatal visits, ultrasound counseling, delivery discussions, and postpartum care can be conducted in Spanish. Patient education, consent forms, and hospital pre-registration paperwork are available in Spanish. See our página en español.

Frequently asked questions
When should I schedule my first prenatal visit?
As soon as you have a positive pregnancy test — ideally between 7 and 10 weeks. Call (402) 826-3222 and mention it's a new-pregnancy visit.
Do you offer prenatal ultrasound in office?
Yes. Basic dating and anatomy ultrasounds are done in the office. Specialized ultrasounds (such as targeted anatomy scans for higher-risk pregnancies) are coordinated with the affiliated hospital or imaging center.
What if I need a specialist consultation?
Dr. Gutiérrez maintains referral relationships with maternal-fetal medicine and other specialists. If your pregnancy needs specialist input, he coordinates the referral and remains involved in your care.
Do you accept Medicaid for prenatal care?
Yes. We accept Nebraska Medicaid Heritage Health (Nebraska Total Care, Molina, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan) as well as most commercial and Medicare plans.
Can I bring my other children to my prenatal visits?
Yes — both ICHI clinics are family-friendly and it's common for siblings to attend. If your visit needs privacy (for example, a sensitive discussion), let the front desk know.
