What IV therapy means at ICHI
IV therapy is the direct infusion of fluids, vitamins, or nutrients into your bloodstream. Because it bypasses the digestive system, it delivers hydration and nutrients quickly and with predictable absorption. At ICHI, every IV therapy session is ordered and supervised by a physician or nurse practitioner, and administered by trained clinical staff in a medical office — not a wellness spa. That means real medical oversight from evaluation through the end of the infusion.
When IV therapy may help
Acute dehydration
Rapid rehydration during illness with vomiting, diarrhea, or poor oral intake — a common reason we use IV fluids clinically.
Vitamin & nutrient support
B-complex, vitamin C, magnesium, and other targeted nutrient infusions when clinically indicated for fatigue, recovery, or documented deficiency.
Wellness & recovery
Hydration and vitamin infusions used electively for post-exertion recovery, travel recovery, or general wellness. These are typically self-pay.
Clinically indicated infusions
Specific infusions ordered as part of a treatment plan for a documented condition — evaluated case by case with your provider.
What a visit looks like
- Evaluation — brief provider check-in to review why you're requesting IV therapy, your medical history, allergies, and current medications.
- IV placement — a small IV catheter is placed by a trained staff member.
- Infusion — you're seated in a comfortable clinical chair, monitored by staff. Most sessions last 30 to 60 minutes.
- After — the IV is removed, a brief final check, and you're on your way. Most patients return immediately to normal activities.
Insurance and pricing
When IV therapy is medically necessary — for example, treating dehydration from acute illness — it can typically be billed to insurance. Wellness infusions and elective vitamin drips are usually self-pay because they are not covered by insurance. Call (402) 826-3222 for current pricing and coverage details specific to your plan.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a referral for IV therapy at ICHI?
No referral is required for wellness or hydration infusions. Clinically indicated infusions require a provider evaluation, which we can schedule the same day when possible.
Can I combine IV therapy with a regular office visit?
Yes. Many patients receive IV therapy as part of a broader visit — call (402) 826-3222 to schedule both together.
Is IV therapy safe?
When administered by trained clinical staff under physician supervision, IV therapy is safe for most adults. Rare risks include reaction to the infusion, IV site irritation, and — with certain infusions — electrolyte or fluid overload if you have kidney or heart disease. Your provider screens for these risks before the infusion.
What's the difference between IV therapy at ICHI and an IV drip bar?
At ICHI, every infusion is ordered and monitored by a medical provider in a clinical office. IV bars vary widely in oversight, staff credentials, and safety protocols. If you have a medical condition or are on medications, a clinical setting is safer.
